Books That Are Better Than the Movies

If you're a true reader, you are probably already aware that THE BOOK IS ALWAYS BETTER. When novels are adapted into films they always feel forced and rushed. How could we possibly fall in love with our favorite characters when over three-hundred pages are minimized to one and a half hours of screen time. An overarching plot line becomes the focal point while the important details that captured our hearts are erased. It's like someone meeting me for the first time and then judging me based on the five minutes we spoke. It's not a fair assessment. However, my critical opinion doesn't change the fact that novels will always be adapted into movies. I actually think it could be a positive thing- if it gets people to recognize stories they are missing out on by not reading!
While there may be some movies that do the books justice, there are a whole lot more that left us perplexed. Here are a few of the most glaring fails (in no particular order):
1. The Giver by Lois Lowry
2. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
4. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
5. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
6. Paper Towns by John Green
7. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
8. Ms. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
9. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
10. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
